The global automotive industry is undergoing a historic transformation, with Chinese automakers emerging as the most powerful driver of global demand. China has held the title of the world's largest auto exporter for three consecutive years, leading the globe in export volume, technological value and market reach. In 2025 alone, China exported 3.43 million new energy vehicles (NEVs) – a 70% year-on-year surge – capturing 68.4% of the global market share. That means more than two out of every three NEVs sold worldwide now come from China.
Against this backdrop, the 2nd Guangzhou International Auto Industry Export Exhibition (Spring 2026) will run from April 14 to 17 in Pazhou, Guangzhou. Held concurrently and at the same venue as the 135th Canton Fair, the exhibition will share access to more than 310,000 global buyers, making it the largest and most targeted automotive business matching platform in the Asia-Pacific region in the first half of 2026.
Exhibition organizers confirmed exclusively that SAIC-GM-WULING (SGMW) – a core strategic partner of General Motors and a global mainstream automaker with more than 30 million vehicles produced and sold cumulatively – will participate as a headline exhibitor.
Drawing on General Motors' century-old global technology ecosystem and its own years of localized full-industry-chain presence worldwide, SGMW has secured four prime booth locations covering the main entrance, inter-pavilion hubs, core visitor routes and all exit paths. Each exhibition area is designed around immersive, real-world local driving scenarios, and the company will showcase a full lineup of NEV passenger vehicles and multi-purpose commercial-passenger models tailored specifically for international markets.
Its core brand philosophy – "WULING MAKES WHAT PEOPLE NEED" – has been fully localized across global markets, cementing its status as the most anticipated brand for automotive industry professionals from the ASEAN region at this year's show.

SAIC-GM-WULING is an international automaker jointly owned by SAIC Motor, General Motors and Guangxi Automobile Group. As a core strategic business unit for emerging markets within General Motors' global network, it benefits fully from GM's global R&D infrastructure, century-long automotive engineering heritage, worldwide supply chain system and world-class quality control standards.
Industry experts confirm that all SGMW models destined for overseas markets undergo full-cycle validation through General Motors' Global Vehicle Development Process (GVDP). They meet leading market access standards including ASEAN NCAP safety ratings and UN ECE emission regulations, and are available in both left-hand drive (LHD) and right-hand drive (RHD) configurations. This allows rapid adaptation to different countries' traffic rules and regulatory requirements, giving SGMW industry-leading localized compliance capabilities.
As of 2026, SGMW's cumulative production and sales have officially surpassed 30 million units, placing it among the world's elite group of automakers with tens of millions of vehicles on the road. Its products are now sold in 104 countries and regions, with full-chain operations established in key markets across ASEAN, the Middle East and Africa. With overseas sales growing year after year, SGMW is one of the fastest-growing international automotive brands globally.
"The 30 million-vehicle production milestone and General Motors' global technical backing create a competitive moat that sets SGMW apart from other brands," a spokesperson for SGMW's Overseas Business Division said.
"The supply chain leverage from mass production, our globally proven quality control system, and compliance aligned with General Motors' global standards not only deliver higher profit margins for our overseas channel partners than competing models in the same segment, but also significantly reduce their market operation and after-sales maintenance risks. This is the core reason behind our sustained rapid growth in international markets."
According to exhibition floor plans and participation details obtained from organizers, SGMW is one of the few brands at this year's show to achieve full-path coverage of buyers from entry to exit with its four exhibition areas.
Most notably, departing from the industry's conventional static product display approach, all four of SGMW's exhibition areas are designed as immersive recreations of the daily high-frequency driving scenarios faced by overseas consumers. This allows global buyers and dealers to experience firsthand how the products will perform in their local markets and directly address the core needs of end users.
This full-route scenario-based booth design is expected to significantly increase visitor dwell time and boost conversion rates for partnership inquiries.
SGMW's global strategy goes far beyond simply exporting finished vehicles. Instead, the company has built a complete localized industrial closed loop spanning "R&D – production – sales – service" tailored to the user needs, industrial characteristics and consumption habits of global markets, truly living up to its brand promise "WULING MAKES WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS".
On the manufacturing front, the brand has built one of the largest modern complete vehicle manufacturing bases invested by Chinese brands in Southeast Asia in Jakarta, Indonesia.Wuling's globally pioneered intelligent island-style factory manufacturing system, which has been successfully and maturely implemented in China, is now being fully rolled out to the Indonesian facility. Its flexible and intelligent island-style production model revolutionizes automotive manufacturing workflows, enabling efficient mixed-line production of multiple vehicle models and end-to-end quality traceability across the entire production process.
Notably, the plant has obtained the authoritative certification of General Motors Global Manufacturing System (GMS). It adheres to the exact same quality control standards as GM's North American and European factories, ensuring that locally produced vehicles maintain identical quality to the brand's global product lineup.

On the channel and service side, SGMW has established a comprehensive global after-sales maintenance and technical training system, providing full-cycle operational support to regional partners. Its proven localized operation model can be directly replicated, enabling partners to enter new markets efficiently and with minimal risk.
Addressing the core pain points of global market demand, the 10 models SGMW is showcasing this year cover both the NEV passenger vehicle and family-commercial multi-purpose vehicle segments. They are precisely matched to the specific usage scenarios of local markets, perfectly complementing the scenario-based design of the four exhibition areas.
In the NEV passenger vehicle segment, the brand is presenting two flagship models: the 5th-generation four-door MINI and the Bingo S. Both support 30-minute DC fast charging, with operating costs per kilometer just one-sixth those of comparable fuel-powered vehicles. This makes them ideal for the fast-growing ride-hailing, tourism rental and urban commuting markets.
As the star products of the Red Label series, the multi-purpose vehicle lineup led by the Hongguang S and Wuling Zhiguang traces its lineage directly to the original Wuling Zhiguang – the vehicle Forbes famously called "the most important car on Earth" – and fully inherits the global best-selling DNA of that legendary model.

Today's upgraded Wuling Red Label series is engineered for dual family and commercial use, easily meeting multi-scenario loading requirements and delivering exceptional load-carrying capacity. Its chassis and suspension have been specifically tuned for the unpaved roads common in urban and rural areas worldwide, allowing it to handle a wide range of complex road conditions with ease.
The powertrain has been proven by tens of millions of global users, delivering smooth acceleration and reliable performance for efficient "fast driving" in all scenarios. In practice, this means the vehicles can seamlessly transition between meeting the diverse household needs of multi-generational families – daily commuting, family trips and cross-country travel – and supporting commercial activities such as small business operations, goods transportation and ride-hailing services.
This one-vehicle-for-multiple-uses proposition perfectly aligns with the dual "family + commercial" core needs of users in global emerging markets, continuing the Wuling Red Label series' globally recognized high market acceptance and strong user reputation.
Furthermore, the Red Label series can be deeply customized for special-purpose applications. The entire vehicle development process undergoes full-cycle validation to General Motors' global standards, meeting safety and regulatory requirements in all major global markets. It has been tested against extreme road conditions and climates in hundreds of countries and regions worldwide, delivering reliable, durable, safe and stable performance throughout its entire lifecycle.
It is this uncompromising product strength that has allowed the Wuling Red Label series to continuously replicate the global best-selling success of "the most important car on Earth", making it the benchmark product recognized by global dealers for low risk, high turnover and strong profitability.
Additionally, the brand showcased two of its passenger vehicles, the Starlight 730 and Starlight 560, at the exhibition. The Starlight 730 is positioned as a full-size six-seater MPV, engineered to address the core demands of family travel. It delivers segment-busting luxury with its dual power sliding doors, and its status as the best-selling model in its segment in both China and Thailand serves as a powerful testament to its product capabilities.
Meanwhile, the Starlight 560 stands out with its class-leading interior space, rugged exterior design, and exceptional value for money. Both models are tailored to the unique driving characteristics and consumer preferences of overseas markets, and have emerged as core volume sellers with broad audience reach and strong market acceptance across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Africa.

Several automotive industry analysts told reporters that SGMW's market positioning at this exhibition presents distinct competitive advantages, offering significant partnership value for overseas regional dealers, importers and government procurement entities.
Following the conclusion of the Guangzhou International Auto Industry Export Exhibition, Chinese auto brands led by SAIC-GM-WULING will showcase a range of global debut NEV models, cutting-edge intelligent mobility technologies and new global strategic plans at the 18th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition 2026 (Auto China 2026).
At that event, Chinese auto brands will fully demonstrate to the global market their latest technological achievements in new energy and intelligent mobility, as well as their future global mobility industry plans. They will continue to expand their global market channel networks and brand influence, steadily advancing China's transformation from a major auto exporter to a global auto powerhouse.
